Welcome to Kerry's Kongquest! In this blog, you can ask questions about other cultures that you always wanted to ask but didn't have the guts to. The same goes for people from other countries: if you have been wondering why American people behave in a certain way, post a question. This blog will better your understanding of other cultures and enhance your appreciation for diversity. Enjoy! **One & only rule: after you answer a question, please ask a question!!**
Today, my Action Group (bible study) leader told us a kind of long reason. i'll try to shorten it, and I may not get it 100% correct.
ReplyDeleteBasically, a long time ago, people would burn in somewhat of a stove as a form of heat. They would typically clean themselves up, but then anytime they would be in mourning, they wouldn't have time to; they would be so busy they would just forget about it. And that's what today is about- people being so busy with God, they don't think about anything else.
That's just one thing I've heard~which I guess is what they talked about in church this morning.
That's a good question! I know that it's for Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, but I'm not sure what the significance of the Ash is. I'll get back to you on that.

ReplyDeleteThe ashes are used as a symbol to mark the beginning of lent, and they're supposed to remind Catholics to remain humble during lent & easter.
